Shochumixer is a reference about a drink, published by Izakaya Juraku. This page says what you can expect from it and what we ask in return. It is written to be read, not to be impossible to read.
What this is
Information, and an opinion about what to put in a glass. It is not professional advice of any kind, and nothing here is a promise that a particular bottle is sold near you, tastes as described, or is still made. Every recommendation carries its reasoning precisely so that you can disagree with it.
Accuracy, and being wrong
Facts here are cited or absent: an unknown strength is left out rather than guessed, and where two sources disagree neither number is printed. That is the standard, and the catalogue still contains mistakes. If you find one, tell us and it is fixed rather than argued about. Pages that were built from a listing rather than from a glass say so on their face.
Drinking
This is a site about a distilled spirit. It is for people who are old enough to drink where they live, which is twenty one in the United States and twenty in Japan. Nothing here is an encouragement to drink more, and a reader who does not drink at all is welcome to read it as what it also is, which is a set of notes about how things taste.
Notes you post
Your words stay yours. Posting one gives us permission to show it on the bottle page it belongs to, next to your display name, and nothing further: we do not sell it, license it on, or put it in an advertisement. Ask and it is deleted, along with the record behind it, without you having to explain why.
What not to post
Somebody else's writing as your own, anything aimed at a person rather than at a drink, and anything you would not want a stranger to read next to a restaurant's name. Notes go live as they are written, so what keeps this usable is the people writing them. We can take a note down and we would rather not have to.
Other people's work
Recipes belong to whoever worked them out and are credited and linked at the top and the foot of every card. Photographs belong to the producers and importers named under them. If something of yours is here and you would rather it were not, one message removes it.
Advertising
Ads are labelled as ads, and they are never mixed into the ranked recommendations. Nobody has ever paid to appear in this catalogue or to rank higher in it, and if that ever changed the change would be written here before it happened anywhere else.
Links away from here
Shops, producers and recipe sites are somebody else's, with their own terms and their own idea of privacy. We link them because that is where the credit belongs, not because we can vouch for them.
What we cannot promise
The site is offered as it is. We cannot promise it will be available, that every link still resolves, or that nothing on it is out of date. Use your own judgement about what you drink and what you mix it with, and if a page and the bottle in your hand disagree, believe the bottle.
Changes
This page changes when what it describes changes, and the date below moves with it. It does not move because a stylesheet moved.
